Financial Capacity Building Capacity Building of ICCO & Kerk in Actie partners in Indonesia

Program Objective

  1. To develop an overall financial management system based on principles of fund accounting and taking into considerations requirements of the partner organization, Government of Indonesia and the involved donors. To provide solutions and implement them as regards issues to be incorporated in a financial manual which will be produced by the involved partner organization.
  2. To advice and support ICCO & Kerk in Actie partners in identifying needs for capacity building activities, and assessing the progress of improvements.
  3. To carry out selected assessment services and capacity building activities with ICCO & Kerk in Actie partners, in consultation with ICCO & Kerk in Actie.
  4. To conduct training and includes providing materials or guidelines for ICCO & Kerk in Actie partners which serve as best practice for financial management systems.
  5. To motivate ICCO & Kerk in Actie partners as far as needed to make effective use of these materials, and to stimulate the use of the financial management system among Governing Board and Management.
  6. Ensure mutual learning through training sessions, technical assistance discussion and Consultancy Support Unit with involvement of selections of partner organizations.

Program Phase

  1. Need assessment of ICCO & Kerk in Actie partner’s requirement in the field of financial management and financial management systems development. This activity will be carried out in collaboration with ICCO & Kerk in Actie, begin by sending questionnaire as a tool of preliminary data collecting.
  2. Development of Consultation Support Unit done remotely as a technical assistance  which serves as a “help-desk” or a “hotline service”, by giving a day-to-day services for the partners in financial management aspects. Organization partners will be able to consult with trainers and technical assistants via mail or telephone. This unit will operate all day and all week and will also be supported with the establishment of a special mailing list for ICCO & Kerk in Actie partners and to be applied as a place where all information, knowledge and experience shared. Consultation Support Unit operates for one year period.
  3. Training on Financial Reporting for Non-profit Organization. Training on preparation of the financial report for non-profit organizations will be given to cashier/treasurer, accountant/bookkeeper and or manager/chief finance officer of each partner, with the topics of: basic of the financial management for non-profit organization, preparation on financial information for non-profit organization, preparation of accounting report for non-profit organization.
  4. Training on Financial Management for Non-profit Organization. This training is intended for non-financial managers/officer, particularly for program managers and the organization’s leaders. This training will be conducted with three main topics: financial management for non-profit organization, internal control system, auditing and reporting standard accordance with PSAK 45.
  5. Training on Budgeting and Resource Management for Non-profit Organization. This training is intended for managers/head of financial unit manager, or fundraising unit. This training will be conducted with three main topics: budgeting for non-profit organization, reserve fund management, asset management.
  6. Technical assistance for improvement/development of financial SOP. To be preformed “tailor made” for each selected partner organization with the following stages: discussion of existing SOP, preparation of the draft SOP, discussion and finalization SOP.
  7. Technical assistance for improvement/development of administration system. To be performed for each selected partner organization with the following stages: discussion of existing SOP, preparation of the draft SOP, discussion and finalization SOP.
  8. Technical assistance for Accounting Software Implementation. To be performed for selected each partner organization with the following stages: facilitation of the selection of accounting software, assisting training from the accounting software providers, assisting using accounting software in recording of financial transactions for 3 months. Additional: assist in purchasing accounting software SANGO pro if required and agreed by ICCO & Kerk in Actie.
